Monday, September 11th: ~Family sick leave day with a fever-suffering 4-year-old. Students read "Seventh Grade," by Gary Soto in class, which is part of the short story unit we will be beginning after the summer reading project.
Notes for Tuesday, 9/12: I will collect summer reading. We will discuss "Seventh Grade" in class and address any unanswered questions (questions not completed in class are not homework, but the reading should be complete). We will clean up last week's leftovers and begin the summer reading project.

For Thursday, 9/14: ~Please complete the "Fragments" and "Complete Sentences" (two-sided sheet) exercises. See the examples and the examples we completed in class for further guidance.

For Monday, 9/18: ~Students will have approximately 20 minutes of class time to complete the project, so anything that demands beyond those 20 minutes should be completed at home.

Review attached sample sentences for the vocab words with which we are struggling most.
For Tuesday, 10/3: ~Please complete the "All Summer in a Day" Figurative Language sheet (if not completed in class, and then create an illustration that depicts ONE of the figurative language examples that you cited (paper provided, but it could be on any paper).
